BULA Fiji!
Where do I even start with this little island in the pacific?
When I was 10 years old, this was my first overseas destination with my family. It was the vibrant and infectious energy of the local Fijians that I remember the most. Since then I’ve been back to Fiji a few times however more recently I was living in Savusavu working on Survivor with Network 10.
For everyone who thought I just disappeared off the face of the earth, I was basically sworn to secrecy and living on an island. So much hard work and determination by the survivor crew went into this show, literal blood, sweat and tears by both the contestants and the crew. I learnt so much working on this project. It was one of the hardest but most rewarding experiences.
Working on the set of survivor was also the definition of challenging both physically and mentally. For anyone who knows me well, I’m not a morning person and working on survivor meant lots of early mornings. On the plus side the beautiful sunrises made it worth the early wake-up call.
Working on survivor was defiantly always go go go! There was never a dull moment and always plenty to do. While I was living on the Island I met some amazing and talented people. Some of my closest friends were the Fijian locals. On the occasional day off, I’d spend my days exploring the coral reefs abundant with sea life, hiking to waterfalls or getting a massage. If you get a chance to visit Fiji, make sure you take it, it’s a truely beautiful part of the world.
I hope Australia enjoys this battle of tribes, Champions VS Contenders.
Here are some photos of my time living in Fiji. I wish I could show you more however I was so busy working on set most of the time.
It’s hard to find knowledgeable people on this topic, but you sound like you know what you’re talking about! Thanks
